Our story
The 11 Acre Farm story, so far.
Created from shared family values
Hello. Thought we might tell you a little bit about ourselves and how 11 Acre Farm has come to be.
We are the Erceg family, born and raised in the local area. After running a family business for the past 30 years, it was time to move on. A year later in 2020, we purchased this run down property and together, started dreaming up what it could be. It had to be aligned with our family values;
- Quality time
- Nature and sustainability
- Wholesome food
- Community connection
- Playwork
Here's what we came up with...
- A permaculture inspired farm with workshops.
- A Farm Kindy with real grass and friendly farm animals that teaches them where food comes from.
- A paddock to plate venue with consistently awesome coffee and wholesome entertainment for kids.
- A microbrewery. Enough said.
- An example of a truly sustainable business
From old rusty barn to 11 Acre Farm
When we purchased the property it had an old house at the front, a hay shed and stables further back. We loved the character of the rusty old tin and knew we wanted to preserve these existing buildings. The old house is now - Little Grots Farm Kindy. The hay shed is now - Cubby Cafe. The old stables will eventually be - The Good Paddock Restaurant and Brewery.
Cubby lane
When it came to entertaining the kids, we didn’t want the staid old playground. So we rescued old cubby houses from Marketplace and turned them into a little town for kids to play til their hearts are content. A cafe, hair salon, Dr. surgery, discotheque, classroom, police station, green grocer, train station, fire station and stage where they can role play the day away. Each cubby has been named after the original family who owned them.
Someone's trash is another's treasure
In fact, almost everything you see at 11 Acre Farm is rescued from Facebook Marketplace and upcycled. The old truck that is now the live music stage. The rusty garden ornaments, the furniture in the cafe, the animal enclosures, the bridges, the sleepers, the rusty old tin, the landscaping rocks, the mirrors in the bathrooms and the perimeter fencing. It’s all someone else’s trash that we turned into our treasure.
Four legged friends
Next we acquired our furry family. Donkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, peacocks, guinea fowl, quails, bunnies, bees, ducks and every breed of chicken you can imagine. We now have a menagerie of over 300 animals that both help us with our produce, but that give you a daily dopamine hit with your caffeine hit.
Permaculture Patrons
We are lovers of paddock to plate style dining. We wanted to take what we’d learned about the principles of permaculture and apply it here to provide people of Perth with a farm experience they don’t have to travel hours to get to.
We will run workshops on the principles of permaculture, aquaponics, syntropic farming, fermentation and pickling courses, bees, chickens and the necessary equipment.
And now we invite you - to become part of our farm family.
We have met some incredible people who have been instrumental in bringing our farm to fruition. We couldn’t have done any of this without them. So come on down and tell us - do you love what we’ve created? Can you taste how fresh the food is on your plate? Can you feel the family values? Most importantly - do the kids love it here? Your feedback measures our success.
