Healthy soil. Productive gardens. Your own urban harvest.
Saturday 28 November 2026 · 3–5pm · 11 Acre Farm, Forrestdale · $15 per adult
You don’t need 11 acres to grow your own food. Join horticulturist, author and educator Craig Castree for an afternoon exploring soil health and practical self-sufficiency on an urban block.
Soil health
Discover the living world beneath your feet. Craig will explain how soil biology, compost, worms, diversity and organic matter work together to support productive, resilient gardens.
His approach starts with looking after the soil that feeds your plants.
Self-sufficiency on an urban block
Explore realistic ways to grow more of your own produce and make better use of what your garden gives you, whether you have a suburban backyard, a courtyard or a small growing space.
Bring your questions
The session includes a general Q&A. Ask Craig about your veggie patch, soil, composting, fruit trees, pests, worms or where to start.
Meet Craig Castree
Craig has spent decades working in horticulture. His RegenEdible Gardening approach combines regenerative principles with practical edible gardening, encouraging people to work with nature and restore soil biology.
Craig’s books will be available to purchase at the workshop.
